DC postpones New Fighter of Shazam! six months

Update: DC has informed retailers that the upcoming four-issue serial The Novel Champion of Shazam! has been slow indefinitely. Newsarama has subsequently learned that the series is now penciled in to debut in August 2022.

"I was told close to this on Tues," artist Evan 'Doc' Shaner tweets following Newsarama's reporting of the news show. Originally announced in November for a February 2022 launching, The New Title-holder of Shazam! will introduce a new main Shazam! - the i-time Mary Marvel.

Following a wave of new heroes stepping raised to admit classic mantles, DC has announced that the one-clip Mary Marvel will be graduating to turn the new Shazam in a series, fittingly titled, The New Friend of Shazam!.
